King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSRelief) and Yamany Foundation for Development and Humanitarian Works (YDH) signed a joint program to implement the project to respond to the needs of local capacity building to teach illiteracy students and people with disabilities in the Republic of Yemen, the second phase, as part of the support provided by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the humanitarian response plan in Yemen for the year 2024, where the program was signed by the Assistant General Supervisor of the Center for operations and programs, Eng. Ahmed bin Ali Al-Baiz, and for the Yamany Foundation, Mr. Ahmed Al-Akwa’a, Head of the Foundation.
The project aims to build the institutional capacities of governmental centers and schools working in the fields of protection, care and rehabilitation of people with disabilities and illiteracy schools by establishing an educational environment through supporting and providing the necessary equipments in 29 Centers for rehabilitation and care of people with disabilities and 24 illiteracy schools in 6 Yemeni governorates (Aden, Hadhramaut, Al-Dhali’, Lahj, Shabwa and al-Mahra).
The program will build the individual capacities of children with disabilities by providing 26,447 solo educational hours to students with disabilities who benefit from the school equipment provided to the centers of care and rehabilitation of people with disabilities by specialists in speaking and communication in sign language, Braille and basic academic skills for learning difficulties such as reading, writing and mathematics.
Over 9 months, the project benefits, (9,747) beneficiaries of women, men, girls and boys, people with disabilities (6,527 beneficiaries), illiteracy students (2,389 students) and 831 educational staff in centers and schools for people with disabilities and illiteracy.
This signing comes within the framework of the humanitarian efforts made by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia represented by King Salman Center (KSRelief) to support the educational process of the Yemeni people.
