Under the patronage of Dr. Abdulrab Muftah, Deputy Governor of Marib, Yamany Foundation for Development and Humanitarian Works (YDH) today launched the Water Services Improvement Project at Marib General Hospital. The project is funded by King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSRelief) through “Sahim” platform, in the presence of representatives from the local authorities, the Director of the Health Office, the Chairman of Marib General Hospital, and a number of relevant official entities.

At the beginning of the event, the Deputy Governor, along with representatives from KSRelief and Yamany Foundation team, laid the cornerstone to mark the start of the project’s implementation. The project aims to provide safe and sustainable water within the hospital and improve the quality of healthcare services delivered to patients and medical staff

During the event, the Deputy Governor was briefed by the Foundation’s engineering team on the project’s technical components, which will benefit over 24,760 individuals, including medical personnel, patients, staff, and hospital visitors.

The project includes a series of integrated technical interventions, such as:

– Rehabilitating the existing well and connecting it to a fully integrated solar power system.
– Drilling a new 180-meter-deep well, constructing a pump room, and installing a solar-powered operating system.
– Building a new 50-cubic-meter elevated water tank and rehabilitating the existing one.
– Establishing a water desalination (RO) plant with a production capacity of 20,000 liters per hour to ensure water quality and sustainability.
– Rehabilitating the hospital’s internal water network, extending 1,114 meters to connect all hospital facilities.

During the event, Dr. Abdulrab Muftah expressed his gratitude and appreciation to KSRelief and Yamany Foundation for implementing this vital and pioneering project, describing it as one of the key initiatives that strengthen the health sector’s infrastructure in the governorate. He stressed the importance of coordination between official bodies and implementing partners to ensure the project’s efficient execution.

Dr. Muftah also commended the leading humanitarian role of King Salman Center (KSRelief) in supporting various sectors across Yemen—particularly in Marib Governorate—noting that this project represents a successful model of sustainable humanitarian cooperation that enhances healthcare efficiency and improves the hospital’s working environment.

For his part, Mr. Ahmed Al-Akwa’a, CEO of Yamany Foundation (YDH), stated that the project’s implementation comes as part of KSRelief’s response—through donations via Sahim platform—to address the urgent needs of healthcare facilities in Marib Governorate. He emphasized that the Foundation places special focus on sustainable-impact projects that improve essential services and strengthen the capacity of facilities serving both local communities and displaced populations.

The project’s launch reflects the shared commitment of Yamany Foundation, KSRelief, and Sahim donors to enhance the effectiveness of humanitarian interventions in Yemen and to achieve tangible, lasting impact that supports the sustainability of health and water services—representing both a humanitarian and developmental investment that bolsters the resilience of the health sector amid ongoing challenges.
