The Project to Respond to the Needs of Developing Local Capacities for the Education of Literacy & Disabled Students in the Republic of Yemen Funded by King Salman Center (KSRelief)..
With generous support from the King Salman Relief Center, the Yamani Foundation for Development and Humanitarian Works is implementing a project to respond to the needs of developing and building local capacities to teach literacy students and people with disabilities in the Republic of Yemen. Over a period of 9 months, from January 15 to October 15, 2022, the project generally aims to contribute to addressing the main challenges facing educational institutions in the field of caring for children with disabilities, eradicating illiteracy, and educating literacy students, which limit their integration into Yemeni society, through supporting and providing school equipment. Necessary for 19 centers for the rehabilitation and care of people with disabilities, and 10 schools to eradicate illiteracy in the governorates of Aden, Abyan, and Hadramout
Overall Objective of The Project
Contribute to addressing the main challenges facing educational institutions in the field of caring for children with |
disability, literacy, which limit their integration into Yemeni society.
Special Objectives of The Project
· Improving the educational environment by providing high-quality educational equipment for schools with disabilities by providing them with school equipment for the centers of protection, care and rehabilitation of persons with disabilities. · Improving the quality of education for children with learning disabilities, building and developing their abilities by providing individual sessions according to their educational needs in specialized areas (pronunciation, Braille sign language, skills) · Improve the educational environment by providing quality educational facilities by providing them with school equipment for literacy centers and teaching literacy students. |
Strengthen the capabilities of the educational and administrative staff in the literacy system and teach literacy students and employees of Disabled Care Centers by training the educational staff in the competencies and educational strategies needed to carry out their tasks easily and easily.
Major Achievements of The Project |
· Providing 1,100 double chairs to 20 Centers for the care and rehabilitation of children with disabilities and 10 schools for literacy and adult education in the governorates (Aden – Hadhramaut – Abyan). · Providing educational supplies, including educational aids and stationery to 20 Care and Rehabilitation Centers for children with disabilities and 10 literacy schools. · 300 children with hearing disabilities benefited from hearing aids. · 28,133 individual educational hours were implemented for students with disabilities, of which 1,160 students benefited (431 males and 729 females) · Rehabilitation of 21 classrooms and 8 toilets in the Centers for the care and rehabilitation of children with disabilities). · Providing 8 Centers for the care and rehabilitation of children with disabilities and 10 literacy schools with computers, (one computer for each center). · Providing 4 Centers for the care and rehabilitation of children with disabilities and 10 literacy schools with manual sewing laboratories (96) machines with their accessory. · Providing first aid kits and fire extinguishers to enhance security and safety to 20 Care and Rehabilitation Centers for children with disabilities. · Training and capacity building of 472 educational and administrative staff (303 teachers and volunteers in centers for the care of people with disabilities 169 teachers in literacy schools). · Implementation of 6 awareness campaigns in order to raise awareness about the issues of people with disabilities and contribute to reducing the spread of literacy |

Project Outputs
.Providing 600 double chairs for 20 Centers for the care of children with disabilities .Providing 20 centers and schools for the education and rehabilitation of children with disabilities with the necessary equipment, stationery and educational supplies 3.300 children with hearing disabilities benefited from hearing aids. .Identification and integration of 1,460 male and 583 female students (877) with various disabilities in free basic and secondary education. .Providing computers for 8 Centers for the care of children with disabilities. .Providing manual sewing laboratories (20 machines with their accessories) to 4 centers for the care and education of children with disabilities. .Rehabilitation of 21 classrooms and 8 toilets in centers for the care and rehabilitation of people with disabilities. .Providing 20 Centers for the care and education of children with disabilities with first aid kits and a fire extinguisher. .Distribution of 150 bags for teachers and volunteers of centers and care for children with disabilities. |
Implementation of 6984 individual educational hours to teach speaking and communication to the hearing impaired. Implementation of 4998 individual educational hours to teach sign language to the deaf and dumb. Implementation of 4197 individual educational hours to teach Braille for the blind. Implementation of 5141 individual educational hours to teach life skills for Down syndrome. Implementation of 6813 individual educational hours to teach reading, writing and math skills. Providing 10 literacy and adult education schools with 500 double chairs. Providing 10 literacy and adult education schools with the necessary educational supplies and stationery. Providing 10 schools for literacy and adult education with computers, (one computer for each school). Providing 10 schools for literacy and adult education with hand sewing laboratories with a total of 96 machines with their supplies (a laboratory for each school). Training and capacity building of 169 teachers from educational and administrative cadres (8 males – 161 females). 4,186 male and female students (12) and 4,174 females benefited from education in literacy and adult education schools. |
